'Usable when it is folded away.'
A chest of drawers can be turned into a low coffee table by a single action - lift by the top drawer handles. Inspired by the traditional Japanese living room, which was turned into a bedroom at night, it was one of my experimentations on furniture with dual function.
It was in self-production in the UK until 1999. Abode (Japan) started to manufacture in 1997 for the Japanese market. It was relaunched for the rest of the world in 2006, by Röthlisberger.

『折りたたんだ時にも引き出しとして使えるテーブル』
引き出しの取っ手に手をかけ、持ち上げて広げるとコーヒーテーブルになります。ちゃぶ台を片付けて居間が寝室になったかつての日本の暮らしにインスピレーションを受け、Royal College of Artの卒業制作で発表し、1999年まで英国にて自主製造販売をしました。
日本では1997年からアボード社の製品となり、Röthlisberger社（スイス）では2007年に製造販売が始まりました。ヴィクトリア＆アルバート博物館ほか、英国各地の美術館に収蔵されています。
