J+I Project
J+I was a collection of projects by 6 Japanese designers working in Europe. In 2014, the results were merged into Hands on Design.
J+I Benches, SlowWood
A set of two benches which can be used as low table. They are capable of supporting two people each, as well as being able to nest one inside the other to make the transport volume smaller.
SlowWood is formed by skilled wood craftsmen who have a sustainable source of materials and way of living.
This is one of the J+I projects, which was launched as a part of the Hands on Design exhibition at fuoriSalone, Milano, in April 2014.
限られた素材から丁寧に切り出され、手で仕上げたベンチのセットです。コーヒーテーブルとしても使えます。搬送時にはくさびを外して筋交いを抜き、2つを重ねて1つぶんの箱に収まります。
SlowWoodは、材料の仕入れや工程の全てに環境への配慮をする木工職人のグループです。ミラノで開催されたHands on Designの一部として、2014年に発表しました。展示の様子がJDNのサローネ特集で紹介されています。
J+I Shift, Riva 1920
This stool displays its materiality. It is designed as if the wood has been sliced and then shifted – the real purpose of the shape is to connect more than one stool in a row, or to enable placing of them for corner seating. For outdoor use, the grooves are tapered to allow rainwater to run off.
This stool is a part of the Stool Collection by Riva 1920 - many designers and architects took part to design stools from solid chunks of wood.
力強い杉の素材感を楽しむスツールです。あたかもスライスしてずらしたような加工を施すことで、2つを横に繋げたり、コーナーを形づくる多様な置き方ができます。屋外に置いて使っても雨水が流れ落ちるよう、溝に角度をとりました。
これはRiva 1920のスツール・コレクションの一部として発注が可能です。スツールコレクションには、多くのデザイナーが建築家が同じ条件で削り出すデザインを寄せています。
J+I Tangram, Ercole Moretti
A tangram is a silhouette puzzle with seven pieces, invented by the Chinese around the 11th century.
We designed this tangram in 'murrina mosaic’ - Ercole Moretti’s speciality, kiln crafted using cut glass canes in Murano, Venice.

タングラムは中世の中国で発明された、7つのピースを使いシルエット図を再現するパズルです。
ムラーノ島のガラス工房Ercole Morettiでは、ムリーナと呼ばれるガラス棒の工芸に特化しています。食品には使えない素材のため、その繊細な美しさを手で触れて楽しめるよう、パズルをデザインしました。
この作品はJ+Iプロジェクトから生まれ、Hands on Designの一部として、2014年に発表になりました。展示会の様子が、JDNのサローネ特集で紹介されています。
