'Resonance' is an exhibition at Chappell of Bond Street - results of half a year project between 5 Design Products students at Royal College of Art and YAMAHA, Japanese musical instruments and sports equipment company.

Theme was to explore how design can assist musical experience according to the word 'Resonance'.  Tomoko Azumi has invoilved in setting up brief, together with Tord Boontje, the professor of Design Product, and Kunihiro Takei, director of YAMAHA Design Studio London.

5 Porjects are presented there and each designer will do their demonstration at 6pm tomorrow, 20 September 2011.

Tomoko Azumi and Barbara Etter took part in GlassLab, open air workshop in front of the Vitra Design Museum, during the Art Basel in June. 

One of our studio designers Maiko Tsutsumi, also a lecturer at Camberwell College of Arts, has co-curated an exhibition 'Thingness'.

''There is a renewed interest in what the act of making does to humans and our understanding of the object.  Makers and designers seem to be at a point of reflection: re-evaluating our sensitivities to objects and materials.  The exhibition and accompanying symposium reflect on how objects come to be and how the making of an object affords it 'a voice''.

Camberwell College of Artsにて開催中の『Thingness』はt.n.a. Design Studioのスタッフの一人、堤麻衣子がキュレーションをしています。「作る」という行為からデザイナーや工芸家は何を獲得しているのか？モノや素材感はクリエーションにどんな影響を与えているのか？モノや素材に対する感受性を通した世界の理解のしかたを探るこの展示会は6月10日まで。

連休明けの5月10日に六本木のアクシス・ギャラリーで開催される落語会『花緑 seasoning：第３回／花』のポスターです。恒例になっている手ぬぐいとともに、佐藤卓さんのデザイン。

安積朋子は2つの演目の間のトークにゲストとして参加します。ほんとうに ''秘すれば花''なのか、それともどんどん咲かせるべきか？「感動」または「微笑み」という言葉で置きかえられる  ''花'' を咲かせるための茎や葉、根や栄養などは、デザインではどう鍛えるべきなのか？伝統と現代のバランスは？などを、花緑師匠に聞いてみようと思っています。

Tomoko Azumi is participating as a guest talk at a Rakugo (lone storyteller, mostly comedy) performance by Karoku Yanagiya, one of the leading young Rakugo players in Japan.  At Axis Gallery, Roppongi, Japan on 10 May.

We are leading a week long workshop from 25 July, at Vitra Design Museum Workshops in France.  Our workshop theme is 'The Secret Life of Plants' and we will closely look at trees and plants, to be inspired by them and create an object in response to them.  Inspirational sources could be microscopic structures or cycle of life of a plant - the fruits of the workshop could lead to the structure of a bridge or perhaps a piece of jewellery.

7月25日より、ヴィトラ・デザイン・ミュージアムの主催するワークショップで「The Secret Life of Plants」と題した一週間のワークショップをやります。植物をミクロやマクロの視野から観察、考察してその神秘に近づき、そこからインスピレーションをもらって「発見」を形にしてみよう、というテーマです。成果物は橋の構造かもしれないし、身に付けるアクセサリーになるかもしれない、、、それは参加者の興味やバックグラウンドにゆだねようと思っています。
