Nest is a paper weight or jewellery dish - resting on your desk, dressing table or dining table.  It is made from crystal glass with a birds nest laser engraved inside the glass.
 

Nest is one of five ranges of products we have designed for Monna Studio, a glass manufacturer from Istanbul.  They are the fruits of development sessions, to revive Monna Studio's skilled methods of glass manufacturing and send it into contemporary homes of the world wide market.  Some of the ranges are hand blown, and every product is hand-finished by experienced workers - as a result they are more human than machine made products.

Monna Studio's collection, including three more international designers, will be shown at the Maison & Objet in Paris for the first time.

Nest はペーパーウエイトとして、またはくぼみにジュエリーなどの小物を置く皿として使ってもらえるガラスのオブジェです。クリスタルガラスの塊の中に、レーザー彫刻で鳥の巣を彫り込みました。見る角度によってさまざまな表情を見せます。

Nest と同時にあと4シリーズの作品群が、昨年春のプロトタイプ発表を経て商品化になりました。どれも卓上のもので、お菓子などをディスプレーするための小皿 Plato と、3種類のキャンドル・スタンド -  Bulbous Pondero Calculus です。

このシリーズは Monna Studio のために、イスタンブールで時間をかけて育ったガラスの工芸技術と量産のはざまのような工程 - 機械を使いながらも必ず仕上げは手仕事で、職人の腕と勘にモノとしての存在感がかかっている、そんな環境でのもの作りを世界のマーケットに届ける試みとして始まりました。キャンドル・スタンドが3つも出来たのは、ガラスの質感を楽しむには光との組み合わせが効果的だったからです。

今回のメゾン＆オブジェでの Monna Studio のスタンドは、わたしたちの5作品と一緒に、カリム・ラシッドを含む他の3デザイナーの作品もならび、デザイナーごとに独自の世界を作り上げています。

'Women Working in Wood', touring exhibition has started in London yesterday - it is held until 16 December 2011.

ドーセットで始まった展示会がロンドンに巡回しています。

さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ6人の女性デザイナーの家具を展示し、木工界では今まであまり取り上げられなかった女性ならではのアプローチについて語ろう、という企画の展示会がロンドン・メトロポリタン大学内にある Metropolitan Gallery に巡回します。「木材の扱いが女性らしいというだけではなく、サステナブルに対する女性からのアプローチを見せたい。」というキュレーターの言葉です。

The touring exhibition of Charity Box for Japan in Geneva is still opened - another week to go, until 5 October. 

The show is sponsored by No Mad, location is at Intercloisons showroom, 19 rue de l'Arquebuse, Geneva.

This exhibition started in Milano during the Salone del Mobile this April.  58 designers designed a charity box each, using creativity to help raise funds.  With the warm support of visitors, the show raised 7,803 Euro, which was forwarded to two prefectures which were damaged most severely by the tsunami.

Our design for this exhibition is a birdhouse charity box, which gives you a little song when you push money ( rolled-up note is the best! ) through the round entrance.
 

ミラノ在住の菰田和世氏を中心に企画され、サローネ期の3日間で7,803ユーロの義援金を日本に送ったこの募金箱デザインの展示会が、イタリアでの7月の巡回展を経て、アート・デザイン誌『No Mad』の招待によりジュネーブので開催されます。この展示会には58人のデザイナーが参加し「未曾有の事態にデザインは何が出来るか？」という問いへのひとつの回答を示しました。

わたしたちのスタジオでは鳥小屋に仕掛けをほどこし、お金（もちろんコインでもいいのですが、丸めたお札がベストです！）を入れると鳥がさえずる募金箱を作りました。多くの観客のあたたかいサポートに感謝し、今後も多くの人が楽しんで義援金を入れてくれることを願っています。

あと一週間、10月5日までの開催です。

As a part of featured area at 100% Design, Patan is selected for the Director's Cut exhibition.

Patan is for Zilio A&C in Italy, launched this year at the Salone del Mobile in Milano.  A comfortable dining chair with generous back and little elbow resting arms.  This chair is for everyday use, and foldable when you wish to make space or move them somewhere else.  Of course they are saving space and energy when in transportation too.

デザイン見本市100% Designに今年から、キュレーターの選んだ家具の展示コーナー『Director's Cut』が登場します。会場を入ってまっすぐ進んだ中央広場です。この春にZilio A&Cから発表したダイニングチェアー『Patan』がそこに選ばれ展示されます。

『Patan』は座り心地の良いダイニングチェアーで、ゆったりとした背もたれの端のアーム部にひじを載せられます。必要なときはたたんで片付けられ、かさの低い箱に収まるので、輸送の容量を減らせることが強みです。座り心地には妥協せず、しかも輸送時のコストと環境負荷を減らしたい、、、それがこのデザインの始まりでした。
 

『Patan』はアメリカのデザイン雑誌 dwell 誌 2011年9月号に掲載されています。

Patan & Tra-ra from Zilio A&C

Patan: a comfortable and compact dining chair which folds away neatly.  There are big savings in the volume for shipping as well.

Tra-ra: a grown-up version of our light weight coat stand Tra, capable of supporting your wardrobe in the bedroom.  Again, it comes in a slim and economical flat pack in the same manner as Tra.

見本市の会場にて、Zilio A&Cより2作品が発表になります。

Patan: コンパクトで座り心地の良いダイニグ・チェアーが、必要ない時には折りたたんで収納できます。もちろん配達時にも場所をとらず、運搬による環境負荷を減らします。

Tra-ra: コートハンガー『Tra』が進化したベッドルームのワードローブ。足元の横渡しの桟には靴も乗せられます。フラットパックのスリムな箱に入って販売されます。

''Charity Box'' exhibition for charity for Japan

We are preparing a charity box for this exhibition, starts on 15 April in Milano.

This exhibition is called urgently to raise money for the stricken area of Japan through Coraggio Giappone and L’isola della speranza.

The project is initiated by designer Kazuyo Komoda from Milano and you will find more than 50 charity boxes specially designed and donated by design studios and artists - include Naoto Fukazawa, Riccardo Blumer and Denis Santachiara to name a few.  When you visit exhibition, please make your choice of a charity box and donate for people who lost their homes in Japan.

大震災後の日本に向けてのチャリティー箱をデザインして展示し、その箱に寄付をお願いする『Charity Box』展が市内のギャラリーで開催されます。

ミラノ在住の菰田和世、富田一彦諸氏によって企画され、深澤直人氏、デニス・サンタキアーラ氏、リカルド・ブルーメル氏をはじめとする57人のデザイナーが参加します。t.n.a. Design Studioでも「ついつい寄付がしたくなる」募金ボックスを製作中です。ぜひとも会場にて、お好きな募金箱を選んで寄付をしてください。義援金はCoraggio GiapponeとL’isola della speranzaの2団体を通じて被害を受けた地方自治体の福祉課に送られます。

Maxray Lighting range launch for Europe

At SferaSenses in Milano, table lamps and hanging pendants from Maxray, Japan, are finally ready to be sold and orders can be taken by European retailers.  Two products, Twiggy Lamp and Little Woods, are exhibited within 'Future Artefacts'.

ヨーロッパ仕様の出荷が整ったマックスレイの照明器具がスフェラのミラノ・ギャラリーにてお披露目されます。t.n.a. Design Studioからは『Twiggy Lamp』と『Little Woods』が展示されます。

Our two series for Maxray, Little Woods and Twiggy Lamp are finally ready for European market, and are shown at Sfera stand in Maison&Objet in the next week.
